Synopsis

Pharoahe Monch and Prince Po perform "Stress" against the urban backdrop of San Francisco. The video moves between close-up performance shots, street scenes, and location footage that gives the track a restless, unsettled atmosphere. Rather than following a conventional narrative, it emphasizes the duo's intense delivery and the pressure described in the lyrics. The city's hills, traffic, and crowded streets broaden the song's perspective beyond Queens, presenting Organized Konfusion as a group speaking to a wider, increasingly hostile world.

Factoids & Trivia

• "Stress" was the lead single from Organized Konfusion's second album, *Stress: The Extinction Agenda*, released in 1994.

• The video was filmed in San Francisco. Pharoahe Monch later explained that shooting there helped communicate that the group was expanding beyond its Southside Queens identity and reaching a more global audience.

• Monch and Prince Po connected the song's anger to several real pressures surrounding the album, including label negotiations, studio problems, and the experience of New York cab drivers refusing to take them home because of their race.

• The production of the album version was handled by Buckwild, marking one of the occasions on which the duo moved beyond their largely self-produced debut.

• The song's aggressive delivery had an unusual effect in concert: Monch recalled seeing audiences mosh to Organized Konfusion for the first time.

• The album title draws on *X-Tinction Agenda*, a 1990 X-Men comics storyline involving mutant oppression and an apartheid society, reinforcing the record's broader themes of social pressure and hostility.

• The single was promoted through major 1990s music-video outlets, including Rap City, Yo! MTV Raps, and The Box.
