Plot Summary

No Angels turn an abandoned airfield into the fictional Angelville base, where they appear as a glamorous squadron of fighter pilots. Between shots of military aircraft, runway activity, and cockpit imagery, the group performs the song in flight suits and retro uniforms. The video then shifts into a 1940s-style USO revue, with the five singers delivering synchronized choreography beside the planes. Its combination of aviation spectacle, pin-up glamour, and polished pop performance gives the Eurythmics cover a playful wartime fantasy setting.

Jörn Heitmann directed the video, which was filmed on July 19, 2001, near the General-Steinhof-Kaserne at the former Gatow airfield in Berlin-Spandau. The location is now associated with the Luftwaffenmuseum.

The fictional setting identifies the group as members of U.S. military Squadron 68, stationed at an airbase in “Angelville.” The concept borrows heavily from Top Gun, using fighter-pilot imagery as a pop-video fantasy rather than a realistic military narrative.

The retro performance sections draw on the tradition of wartime USO entertainment. The styling and choreography evoke Marilyn Monroe, the Andrews Sisters, and similar performers who entertained American troops during the 1940s.

The aircraft on display include a MiG-21, a B-57 Canberra, an F-104 Starfighter, and a Dassault Mystère. The B-57 Canberra later received renewed attention because of its appearance in the video.

The clip arrived during an unusually sensitive moment for military imagery. After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, music networks temporarily withdrew it from rotation, despite its television premiere having taken place several weeks earlier.
