The Bee Gees perform "Stayin' Alive" while moving through a stylized, deserted cityscape built on an MGM backlot. Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb appear separately and together among railway cars, station platforms, storefronts, and industrial streets, using confident walks, close-ups, and performance shots to match the song's urgent disco pulse. Rather than dramatizing the story of Saturday Night Fever, the video creates a self-contained urban fantasy that turns the brothers' presence and the backlot scenery into its central visual spectacle.

Factoids & Trivia

• The familiar official video was a reshoot. An earlier version had been filmed in Miami on soundstages for the Saturday Night Fever songs, but the group later recorded new versions in California after Barry Gibb had grown back his beard.

• The California shoot took place on MGM Studios' backlot in Culver City while the Bee Gees were also working on Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

• Several recognizable MGM sets appear in the video, including the Quality Street streetscape and the Grand Central Station set, previously used in films such as The Band Wagon and That's Entertainment!

• One of the railway cars carries the words "New York Central," an authentic detail added to make the studio-built station resemble New York's former Grand Central Terminal environment.

• Although the song is closely associated with Saturday Night Fever, the video does not use the film's storyline or John Travolta's Tony Manero character. Its concept is instead built around the Bee Gees performing inside a cinematic version of New York.
