Synopsis

Set inside Jean Paul Gaultier's Paris boutique, the video turns fashion into a playful dance floor. Martin Solveig and Dragonette vocalist Martina Sorbara move through a crowd of sharply dressed men and women in coordinated black-and-white outfits, surrounded by mannequins, graphic styling, and high-fashion attitude. The flirtation and choreography eventually spill onto the rooftop, where the pair dance above the Paris skyline. Gaultier appears amid the stylishly surreal proceedings.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was filmed at Jean Paul Gaultier's Paris headquarters and boutique, giving the clip an authentic fashion-world setting rather than a constructed pop-video backdrop.
  • "Boys & Girls" was connected to the launch of Gaultier's Ma Dame fragrance. That promotional link helps explain both the designer's cameo and the video's strong emphasis on clothing, styling, and gender-coded fashion.
  • Jean Paul Gaultier's appearance is more than a celebrity cameo: he functions as the visual link between Solveig's dance track and the fashion campaign surrounding it.
  • The video's black-and-white styling creates a graphic look that matches the song's sleek, synth-driven production. The contrast also lets the models and choreography stand out against the boutique's polished interiors.
  • The single was released in 2009 as the first single from the reissue of Solveig's album "C'est la Vie," subtitled "The Definitive Edition." It was later included on his 2011 album "Smash."
  • Dragonette's Martina Sorbara provides the featured vocals. The collaboration became an important early meeting point between Solveig's French dance production and Dragonette's electro-pop identity, preceding their much bigger hit "Hello."

Lyrics

I could be your boy
and you could be mine
Oh oh oh oh oh
I could be you toy
It would be fine
Oh oh oh oh oh
I could be your boy
and you could be mine
Oh oh oh oh oh
Bring me all your joy
it would be fine

You are in or not
Coming after you
