Synopsis

TISM enter an aggressively cheerful aerobics class modeled on Australian morning exercise television. While the instructor and participants continue their synchronized routine, the masked band members quickly lose interest, retreating to a couch with beer and a television before turning the studio into an improvised Australian rules football ground. When the instructor disrupts their leisure, the exercise program collapses into a chaotic confrontation, ending with the performers taking control of the broadcast itself.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video parodies the Australian exercise program "Aerobics Oz Style," using its bright studio presentation, repetitive routines, and relentlessly upbeat atmosphere as the basis for the joke.
  • "Whatareya?" was released in July 1998 as the third single from TISM's fourth studio album, commonly styled as "www.tism.wanker.com."
  • The song divides Australian social stereotypes into "yobs" and "wankers," making the video’s collision between aerobics culture, beer, television, and Australian rules football an extension of its class satire.
  • The clip's deliberately cheap, unruly television aesthetic suits TISM's broader use of masks, fake identities, deadpan provocation, and anti-show-business presentation.
  • The video is also known as "Whatareya? (You're a Yob or You're a Wanker)," reflecting the song's full subtitle and its central either-or challenge.
