Neil Tennant is seized by an authoritarian religious tribunal and subjected to a surreal trial. Chris Lowe appears as his jailer, while Ron Moody presides as the judge. Between scenes of confinement, interrogation and punishment, the video introduces symbolic figures representing the seven deadly sins. Religious imagery, stark lighting and theatrical tableaux create a dreamlike atmosphere in which personal guilt becomes a wider accusation against institutional morality and repression.
