Synopsis

A motorcycle-riding fugitive races through a moonlit landscape while police pursue him toward a gothic mansion. Inside, the scarred, beast-like figure hides among mirrors, shadows, and candlelit rooms before encountering a beautiful woman bathing in a fountain. Although frightened at first, she gradually sees past his monstrous appearance and responds to his devotion. Their encounter becomes a lavish Beauty and the Beast-style romance, ending with her accepting him and the two escaping together into the night.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video draws heavily on Beauty and the Beast and The Phantom of the Opera, combining gothic horror imagery with the song's oversized romantic drama.

• The woman in the video, Dana Patrick, did not sing the female vocal. She lip-synced to Lorraine Crosby's performance. Crosby was initially credited only as "Mrs. Loud" in the album notes.

• Patrick later said that she received offers for recording contracts from people who assumed the voice belonged to her.

• The video uses a shortened version of the song running roughly eight minutes. The album version lasts about 12 minutes.

• The production reportedly took four days in temperatures around 90 degrees Fahrenheit and went over its planned budget.
