Synopsis

Pat Benatar plays a rebellious young woman who leaves home after a confrontation with her abusive father. In the city, she finds work as a taxi dancer at a nightclub, where the owner exploits and intimidates the women. After seeing him mistreat another dancer, she rallies the group against him. Their coordinated dance becomes an act of defiance, leading to their escape at dawn. Benatar eventually moves on alone, leaving her past behind as she boards a bus.

• Benatar was 30 years old when she played the runaway teenager in the video.

• The production was built around a longer, remixed version of the song. Neil Giraldo adjusted the arrangement to create more rhythmic passages for the dancers.

• The choreography came from Michael Peters, who also appears briefly onscreen. Peters later choreographed Michael Jackson's "Beat It" and "Thriller."
