Synopsis

Korn's members arrive separately in an assortment of flashy cars, turning the song's conflicted attitude toward fame and material success into a bright, exaggerated spectacle. Munky and David start out in a Ferrari, Jonathan walks a dog before taking an older Mercedes, and Fieldy and Head cruise in another luxury car. The band eventually gathers at a garage-like performance space, where they play for a lively crowd surrounded by colorful lights, celebrity cameos, and a chaotic party atmosphere.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video's concept came from bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu. His original idea was to mock materialism by giving away a car, destroying expensive-looking objects, and ending with a large party.

• The Ferrari seen being destroyed was actually a Pontiac Fiero fitted with a Ferrari-style body kit. The production used the replica for the stunt rather than sacrificing a genuine Ferrari.

• The opening boombox plays "It's On!", the first track on *Follow the Leader*, before "Got the Life" begins.

• The video features cameos from several figures associated with the late-1990s alternative and nu-metal scene, including members of Orgy, Incubus, Limp Bizkit, and Eminem. Rapper WC also appears dancing.

• "Got the Life" became one of MTV's most heavily requested videos. On January 12, 1999, it was officially retired from *Total Request Live* so other videos could compete for the top spot.
