Synopsis

Seether frontman Shaun Morgan sits in an abandoned car and plays guitar as Amy Lee appears behind him, dressed in black angel wings. The two singers then move separately through a devastated landscape, occasionally performing with the band but never truly meeting. Their disconnected paths mirror the song's sense of distance and emotional loss. Even when Lee seems close to Morgan, he remains unaware of her presence, turning the duet into a visual story about separation, memory, and people who can no longer reach one another.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was made for the 2004 re-recorded version of "Broken," which features Amy Lee on vocals. The original version had appeared on Seether's 2002 debut album, *Disclaimer*.
  • The duet version was first associated with *The Punisher: The Album*, released in 2004, and was later included on Seether's expanded reissue *Disclaimer II*.
  • The ruined setting was not simply a constructed music-video set. The *Disclaimer II* bonus DVD identified it as a real trailer park that had been destroyed by an explosion connected to a crystal meth lab.
  • The video's central device is that Morgan and Lee occupy the same landscape but remain emotionally and physically disconnected. Lee appears to know where Morgan is, while he does not recognize that she is nearby.
  • Lee's black wings give the video an otherworldly quality, contrasting with the grounded images of the abandoned car, burned-out buildings, and empty surroundings.
  • The video premiered in the United States in June 2004, during the song's release campaign for the *Punisher* soundtrack.
  • "Broken" became Seether's breakthrough crossover hit, reaching No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and helping turn the band into a major U.S. rock act.
