Synopsis

Arsenie Todiras opens the video relaxing on a couch before a comic-book city and a magazine announce O-Zone's return. The trio then rushes toward an airplane, takes control of the cockpit, and launches into "Dragostea din tei." They sing and dance inside the aircraft, on its wings, and in a recording studio while cartoon-style images show cyborgs, vampires, bodybuilding, Batman, and the Moldovan flag. After the plane crashes, the group walks away unharmed, revealing that the entire adventure was a storyboarded fantasy.

Factoids & Trivia

• The airplane scenes were filmed on a partially constructed aircraft after the production was denied permission to shoot inside an operational plane at an airport.

• Additional footage was shot at Lake Komsomolskoye in Russia.

• The song was still new during filming, so the band members reportedly read some of the lyrics from a sheet of paper instead of singing entirely from memory.

• O-Zone's dance on the wings combines pop-video absurdity with a traditional Moldovan step. The members link arms over one another's shoulders and jump from foot to foot in unison.

• The computer-generated city had previously appeared in O-Zone's video for "Numai tu." The clip also reuses material associated with "Despre tine."

• The aircraft's propellers and engines transform into loudspeakers, turning the plane into a flying sound system.

• The video has often been compared with the Vengaboys' "We're Going to Ibiza!" because of its cartoon interruptions and its deliberately improbable airplane choreography.

• Its surreal, low-budget style became inseparable from the song's international identity, which was later amplified by Gary Brolsma's viral "Numa Numa Dance" in 2004.
