Synopsis

In a barren desert landscape, Airick Woodhead struggles across the sand while pushing a shopping cart packed with electronic equipment. Wearing oversized ski boots, he fights the heat, terrain, and sheer absurdity of the journey. Just as exhaustion appears to take over, a bizarre vehicle styled like a giant cat arrives with a driver who offers assistance. The video's surreal, low-fi adventure mirrors the track's frantic electronic textures, balancing physical comedy, handmade fantasy, and an atmosphere of disorienting isolation.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was filmed in the Mexican desert. Woodhead later described the shoot as unusually difficult, with a sandstorm stopping production and leaving the crew with only about 20 minutes of usable film at one point.

• The production was made under tight financial and logistical restrictions. The crew reportedly had limited equipment, could not freely film in every location without permits, and had little money available to replace damaged or missing gear.

• The video was created for "She Is the Wave," which features Guy Dallas and first appeared as a 7-inch single in November 2012. The track was subsequently included on Doldrums' debut album, "Lesser Evil."

• The desert setting and the cart full of technology create a visual contrast between primitive survival and modern electronic life. The image also fits Doldrums' tendency to combine handmade, strange-looking objects with heavily processed sound.

• A later version of the video was made as a remix of the original. It retained footage from the first version but added warped imagery, illustrations, and psychedelic effects, turning the already surreal piece into something more fragmented and abstract.
