Synopsis

Miles Fisher plays a Zack Morris-style high school heartthrob whose attempts to win Kelly's attention unfold in a candy-colored sitcom world modeled on "Saved by the Bell." The cheerful romance takes a gruesome turn as classmates are killed in elaborate, chain-reaction accidents inspired by "Final Destination." Falling lockers, flying records, exploding appliances, caffeine pills, and other everyday hazards turn the Bayside-style school into a comic slaughterhouse. Fisher and Kelly remain focused on their flirtation while chaos eliminates nearly everyone around them.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was released on July 19, 2011, alongside the "New Romance" single.
  • The concept combines the visual language of "Saved by the Bell" with the fatalistic accident sequences associated with the "Final Destination" franchise.
  • Fisher's co-stars from "Final Destination 5" appear as the sitcom-inspired student characters, while David Koechner plays the Mr. Belding-like principal.
  • The project served as an online promotional campaign for "Final Destination 5," which opened in theaters on August 12, 2011.
  • Fisher and Rooney frontman Robert Schwartzman wrote the song, with Schwartzman producing it.
  • The video's production was financed by Warner Bros. after Fisher presented the project in connection with his role in "Final Destination 5."
  • The shoot took place in a single day at Red Studios in Hollywood. The production used a Red One MX camera and a Cooke Varotal 18-100 zoom lens.
  • The bright, flattened sitcom look was created with a large lighting setup that included 4K supersoft lights, spacelights, and Source Four Lekos.
  • The central joke was designed to contrast an innocent, sugary pop song with increasingly graphic accidents, making the clip function as both a music video and a horror-comedy short.
  • The video became one of Fisher's most visible viral projects, following his earlier "American Psycho"-inspired video for "This Must Be the Place."
