Synopsis

Stuck alone in a dreary, rainy UK apartment, a young man receives a mysterious virtual reality headset from the Blase Boys Club. Once he puts it on, his surroundings transform into an endless tropical escape. Seen almost entirely from his point of view, the fantasy takes him through Thailand's beaches, nightlife, watersports, wildlife encounters and parties, alongside a glamorous companion. Eventually, the headset is removed, revealing that the entire sun-soaked adventure has taken place without him leaving home.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was released on February 19, 2014, ahead of the single's UK release on March 16.
  • The tropical sequences were filmed in Thailand, including Bangkok, Phuket and the Phi Phi Islands. One listed location is the Samsara Estate in Kathu, Phuket.
  • The video's first-person structure was designed to make viewers feel as though they were wearing the headset themselves. This required the camera to remain close to the protagonist's point of view throughout the fantasy sequences.
  • Cinematographer Ben Fordesman and his team developed a special helmet-mounted camera rig that allowed the performer to move freely while filming the action.
  • The concept came from the contrast between the track's summery sound and the wintery gray weather outside the production office in Paris. The video was conceived as a fictional holiday that could be experienced without traveling.
  • Rique, who plays the central character, had previously appeared in Duke Dumont's "Need U (100%)" video, where he portrayed another isolated man affected by technology.
  • Duke Dumont later explained that the production was completed under a very tight deadline. The Thailand footage had already been shot before the London scenes were filmed, which resulted in a noticeable difference between the actors seen on either side of the virtual reality transition.
  • The headset carries the Blase Boys Club name, referencing Duke Dumont's own record label and reinforcing the idea that the device is a branded product from the video's fictional world.
