Synopsis

The video opens with Rob Coombes driving a tiny Messerschmitt bubble car across a stark, sun-baked landscape toward a distant Supergrass performance. As the band plays among the barren scenery, the film cuts between their energetic performance and Rob's slow, improbable journey. His mission appears to be reaching the group in time for his keyboard part, turning the otherwise simple performance clip into a playful miniature road movie. Wide shots, harsh sunlight, and the car's eccentric shape give the video a surreal, lightly comic charm.

• "Sun Hits the Sky" was released on June 9, 1997, as the third single from Supergrass' second album, "In It for the Money." It reached number 10 on the UK Singles Chart.

• The small vehicle used in the video is a 1955 Messerschmitt KR 200, a three-wheeled bubble car known for its aircraft-style canopy.

• The traveler is keyboardist Rob Coombes, Gaz Coombes' older brother. Although he had been working with Supergrass during this period, he did not officially join the band until 2002.

• Rob Coombes is credited as a co-writer of the song alongside the other Supergrass members.
