Synopsis

A teenage skater clashes with his father at home and storms out with his skateboard. Roaming through the neighborhood, he spends the day skating, encountering friends, and moving through the familiar rhythms of suburban youth. His journey eventually leads him to Pennywise's rehearsal space, where the band's performance becomes the destination of his escape. The video combines a simple coming-of-age storyline with energetic skate footage, reflecting the band's connection to Southern California skate and punk culture.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video's storyline was conceived as a "day in the life" of a skater who leaves home after an argument with his father.
  • In an interview, Fletcher Dragge said the opening incident was based on something that happened to him: his father became angry after he drank directly from a milk carton and chased him out of the house.
  • The skater featured in the video was singled out by Dragge for his impressive ability.
  • "Same Old Story" appeared on Pennywise's 1995 album *About Time*. The track runs for approximately two minutes and 42 seconds.
  • The video was made partly as a compromise with Epitaph, after the label encouraged the band to produce a promotional clip despite Pennywise's reservations about mainstream exposure.

Lyrics

It's patience trying when you tell me how to live
Well you don't know anything
Your expectations are wearing thin
You won't even take a look to see another way
You aren't even listeing
Take your ideals and go away
I'm cut from the same mold
I don't read from the same old story
I'm not cut fromthe same mold
Don't know who you think I should be
I'm not cut from the same mold
I don't read from the same old story
I'm not cut from the same mold
