Synopsis

A wrongly imprisoned man confides in an older inmate, insisting that justice will eventually prevail. Outside, three gang members enjoy themselves at a secluded mansion, unaware that a storm is gathering over a nearby cemetery. A grave marked "Makaveli 1971-1996" cracks open, and an unseen supernatural force begins taking revenge on the men through a series of violent, darkly comic deaths. The story closes with prison inmates learning about the mysterious fatalities, while workers repairing the grave discover the name on the headstone.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was released on March 16, 1997, several months after Tupac Shakur's death. It presents Makaveli as a posthumous, supernatural figure rather than placing Tupac in a conventional performance setting.

• The video was included on the DualDisc edition of *The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory*, alongside the video for "To Live & Die in L.A."

• "Hail Mary" was recorded during the sessions for *The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory* and features Kastro, Young Noble, Yaki Kadafi, and Prince Ital Joe.

• Producer Hurt-M-Badd recalled that the beat came together in roughly 15 to 20 minutes, while the group completed the song in about an hour and a half.

• The song's graveyard imagery and its use of the "Makaveli" identity reinforced the album's posthumous mythology, helping make "Hail Mary" one of the most recognizable visual extensions of *The 7 Day Theory*.
