Synopsis

Set against a stark prison backdrop, K-Ci & JoJo perform "Life" amid images of confinement, isolation, and institutional hardship. Their polished clothing and passionate vocal delivery contrast with the severe surroundings, reinforcing the song's themes of lost freedom and difficult circumstances. The video connects closely to the 1999 Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence film Life, presenting the duo's performance as a soulful reflection on imprisonment, regret, and the struggle to hold on to hope.

Factoids & Trivia

• "Life" was recorded for the soundtrack to the 1999 film Life and also appeared on K-Ci & JoJo's second studio album, It's Real.

• The song was written and produced by R. Kelly, whose production on the soundtrack helped give the track its tense, mournful atmosphere.

• The video was released during the duo's early solo success after Jodeci. It reached No. 60 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 15 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart.

• Unlike the romantic focus of "All My Life," the video uses the prison setting to emphasize the song's perspective on confinement and a life shaped by circumstances beyond one's control.
