Synopsis

The video opens with The Notorious B.I.G. sitting calmly in court while his defense attorney and the prosecutor clash before the judge. The story then shifts to his troubled domestic life, where an argument with his wife ends with him sending her away. Lil' Kim's storyline takes a more playful, extravagant turn: she spends the day at a spa with friends and male dancers, surrounded by celebrity cameos. The contrasting scenes present money, fame, conflict, and indulgence as different parts of the Junior M.A.F.I.A. lifestyle.

• The song's recognizable instrumental is built around a sample of Sylvia Striplin's 1981 track "You Can't Turn Me Away."

• The video is commonly dated to 1995, while MTV's music-video listing places its release in January 1996.

• The single became one of Junior M.A.F.I.A.'s signature successes and helped establish Lil' Kim as a major solo artist before the release of her debut album, Hard Core, later in 1996.
