• The video uses the professionally recorded 7-inch version of "My Valuable Hunting Knife" from the 1995 EP "Tigerbomb," rather than the more brittle four-track recording heard on "Alien Lanes."

• Robert Pollard later explained that the song was about any seemingly trivial possession that carries strong personal meaning. He connected the video's discarded objects with the idea of shedding childish preoccupations, while stressing that the imagery was fictional.
