Synopsis

Gomez are placed under the scrutiny of a team of earnest scientific observers who treat rock performance like a laboratory experiment. The researchers measure everything from the band's guitar positions to the height of the drum cymbals, attempting to isolate the exact formula behind their loose, unruly sound. Their methodical analysis becomes increasingly absurd as the musicians continue performing in their relaxed, unquantifiable style, turning the video into a playful send-up of music-industry attempts to explain genuine chemistry.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video turns the band's deliberately unpolished image into the central joke: scientific precision is set against Gomez's ramshackle, instinctive approach to rock music.

• The clip's researchers measure details including the length of a guitar neck and the height of a drum cymbal, as though a band's appeal could be reproduced through data.

• "Get Myself Arrested" was released as a single in the United Kingdom on June 1, 1998, and reached No. 45 on the UK Singles Chart.

• The song appears on Gomez's debut album, "Bring It On," which won the 1998 Mercury Music Prize.

• The video was later included on "Five Men in a Hut: Singles 1998-2004," a 2006 DVD collecting Gomez music videos and additional material.
