Synopsis

Faith Hill enters a colorful fantasy world where the power of a kiss turns romance into pure exhilaration. Surrounded by oversized flowers, butterflies, bees and other storybook imagery, she leaps, floats and dances through a landscape that seems to exist somewhere between a garden and a dream. The playful visuals mirror the song's description of love as dizzying, weightless and impossible to resist, presenting infatuation as a burst of joyful, almost magical energy.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The concept was inspired in part by Steven Goldmann's daughter's copy of "Thumbelina," which helped shape the video's miniature, fairy-tale atmosphere.
  • Faith Hill announced that she was pregnant while the production team was trying on costumes. When she returned to set two days later, some of the outfits already no longer fit.
  • Hill was approximately three months pregnant during filming and still performed trampoline work for the video.
  • The production combined live-action performance with extensive computer-generated imagery, giving the flowers, insects and floating movements their deliberately exaggerated look.
  • "This Kiss" was named the No. 1 video in CMT's 1998 countdown.
  • The video won Music Video of the Year at the 1998 Country Music Association Awards, helping establish the song as one of Hill's defining crossover-era hits.
