Synopsis
The Cramps turn a simple portrait of lust into a gleefully sleazy fetish spectacle. The video begins with a close-up of a woman's red-painted foot as she pulls on stockings and high heels, lingering on the details of her outfit and movements. Lux Interior appears captivated, writhing and worshipful, while Poison Ivy plays the commanding "bad girl." The teasing power dynamic eventually turns into a comic punishment, ending with Ivy spanking Lux in true Cramps fashion.
Factoids & Trivia
- Released in 1997, the video promoted "Like a Bad Girl Should," the lead single from *Big Beat from Badsville*.
- The single was issued in Europe by Epitaph and was backed with "I Walked All Night." The song was written by Lux Interior and Poison Ivy.
- The video's opening focuses on a foot, stockings, high heels, and the seam of the stockings before revealing the woman wearing them. The presentation deliberately treats these details as fetish objects rather than simply showing a conventional performance.
- The video plays with the song's supposedly adoring point of view. Lux's exaggerated fascination gradually becomes comic submission, with Poison Ivy controlling the encounter and delivering the final spanking.
- Its campy mixture of sexual parody, pin-up imagery, horror-show theatrics, and garage-rock attitude places it firmly within The Cramps' established visual world.
- "Like a Bad Girl Should" is one of the eight music videos listed for The Cramps. The clip runs for roughly three minutes.
