Synopsis

The 1999 video places a young woman, credited as the "Party Girl," at the center of a bright, dance-oriented presentation. Her presence and movement are combined with imagery of Bob Marley, creating a visual bridge between Marley's reggae legacy and Funkstar De Luxe's electronic club production. Rather than telling a detailed story, the clip focuses on atmosphere, performance, sunny energy, and the celebratory mood suggested by the song's lyrics and upbeat remix.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was released in October 1999, following the international success of Funkstar De Luxe's remix.

• Funkstar De Luxe's version reworked Bob Marley's "Sun Is Shining," a song first recorded in the early 1970s and later rerecorded by Marley for the 1978 album *Kaya*.

• The remix was the first official Marley remix released by Funkstar De Luxe after receiving clearance from the Marley estate, at a time when unofficial dance remixes of Marley recordings were already circulating in clubs.

• Funkstar De Luxe and Jan Meedom reportedly hand-delivered a limited-edition 12-inch of the remix to DJs across Ibiza. That grassroots club promotion helped the track build momentum before its wider release.

• "Sun Is Shining" reached No. 1 on the US Billboard Dance Club Play chart and No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart, giving Bob Marley his highest-charting UK single.

• The single became a million-selling release and helped establish Funkstar De Luxe as one of Denmark's most successful electronic producers of the period.
