Synopsis

A man sits at a table in a stark white room, apparently eating an absurd assortment of food. The action soon becomes increasingly strange as the food seems to travel out of his mouth and reassemble itself on the table. The video is presented in reverse, transforming ordinary eating into a surreal display of controlled regurgitation. Its deliberately minimal setting and unsettling imagery create a memorable visual counterpart to the song's tense industrial-rock sound.

• The man featured in the video is Hirofumi Nakajima, a champion competitive hot-dog eater from Japan.

• The footage was filmed as a single continuous take and then played backward. The reversed action makes it appear as though Nakajima is removing large quantities of food from his mouth.

• The production reportedly required six takes in total, meaning Nakajima had to eat all of the food shown in the video six times.

• The idea reportedly came from a brief newspaper item about Nakajima. The band members said the champion was chosen because his appearance and technique made the concept more convincing than having the musicians perform it themselves.

• Released in 1998, the video helped give "From Your Mouth" a distinctive identity during the band's most commercially successful period. The single reached No. 17 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart.
