Synopsis
The Dandy Warhols turn Capitol Records into their own surreal headquarters, relabeling the company "Dandyol Records" while treating the building like a playground. The band wanders through offices and corridors, mixing staged antics with rough documentary footage from their early days. The homemade, behind-the-scenes approach gives the clip the feel of an irreverent corporate takeover, while flashes of destruction and chaotic performance footage reinforce the song's bratty, anti-authority attitude.
Factoids & Trivia
- The concept came from the idea of the Dandy Warhols taking over Capitol Records and transforming it into "Dandyol Records."
- The video combines footage shot before the band had major-label backing with scenes filmed inside the Capitol Records building. It was presented as though the group had made its own documentary about the takeover.
- One memorable sequence shows an old camera called "Flow" being thrown from the roof of Capitol Records and smashed on the ground. The footage was later reused in the documentary *Dig!*.
- "Boys Better" was released in 1997 as a single from *...The Dandy Warhols Come Down*. The song also appeared on the soundtrack to *Good Will Hunting*, helping associate the band with the late-1990s alternative-rock soundtrack boom.
- The video was later included among the Dandy Warhols clips distributed with home-video editions of *Dig!*.
