Synopsis

Set in Los Angeles in the future - 1995 - the video follows a police manhunt for the elusive Starcadian, blamed for a series of disappearances linked to the underground nightclub scene. The investigation leads an officer into a neon-lit club, where the boundary between reality and simulation begins to dissolve. As Starcadian performs amid the crowd, the pursuit turns into a surreal chase through a digitally altered world.

• The video's opening premise presents "Los Angeles. The Future. 1995." as an intentionally anachronistic alternate-history setting.

• "Chinatown" was released in December 2013 as the second single from Starcadian's debut album, "Sunset Blood," which was issued on October 31, 2013.

• Starcadian described his songs as "ear movies," and "Sunset Blood" was conceived as the soundtrack to an imaginary motion picture.

• The video is part of a larger mythology shared with "HE^RT" and "Interspace." Recurring characters and events were designed as fragments of a planned feature-length story connecting Starcadian's releases.

• The nightclub performance was filmed at the back of a diner. The production team did not realize a filming permit was required and was chased by police during the shoot.
