Synopsis

A Cursive Memory turn Hollywood's celebrity culture into a playful street spectacle. Armed with a handheld camera and an oversized boombox, the band members pose as "bandarazzi," joining real paparazzi outside clubs and restaurants while lip-syncing to "Everything." The footage captures encounters with stars including Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, P. Diddy, Steve-O, and Tobey Maguire. Fast cuts, candid reactions, and the band's exuberant performance transform their pursuit of celebrity sightings into an unconventional promotional video.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The band filmed the video themselves on Hollywood streets, adopting the nickname "bandarazzi" to describe their hybrid role as musicians and paparazzi.
  • The idea was to create something that had not been done before. The members waited outside celebrity hotspots, joined groups of photographers, and used tips about celebrity locations to find subjects.
  • The production reportedly involved around 300 hours of footage, which was edited down to the approximately three-and-a-half-minute clip.
  • The band used a large 1980s-style boombox while filming, giving the video an intentionally homemade and conspicuous look.
  • Encounters included Kim Kardashian, Steve-O, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, P. Diddy, and Tobey Maguire. The group particularly singled out Maguire as the most impressive celebrity appearance.
  • Some celebrities reacted positively to the stunt, while others appeared irritated. The band reportedly managed to annoy both celebrities and members of the paparazzi while filming.
  • More than half a million people reportedly watched the video on MySpace during its first week, helping it spread well beyond the band's local scene.
  • The clip was covered by outlets including Fox News, TMZ, E! Online, and The N, and it reached the top 10 of MTV's "Total Request Live" countdown.
  • "Everything" promoted A Cursive Memory's debut album, "Changes," which was released by Vagrant Records on February 19, 2008.
