Synopsis
Angels & Airwaves perform inside a futuristic spacecraft as it travels through an otherworldly environment. Tom DeLonge is also shown walking alone through an open field, creating a contrast between the band's cosmic surroundings and a more reflective earthly setting. Archival-looking World War II imagery and surreal space visuals broaden the video's scale, while planets and glowing skies transform the final meadow into a dreamlike landscape. The result presents "The Adventure" as an expansive, cinematic introduction to the band's sci-fi-inspired identity.
Factoids & Trivia
- The music video was filmed in March 2006 and released in April of the same year, shortly after "The Adventure" established Angels & Airwaves as a new project.
- It was one of two early visual treatments for the song. A separate black-and-white short film, released online in February 2006, used a more overt science-fiction style and was followed by the short film "It Hurts."
- The song and its visuals were part of the ambitious multimedia rollout surrounding the band's debut album, "We Don't Need to Whisper." The project presented Angels & Airwaves as more than a conventional rock band, combining music with film and futuristic imagery.
- The video received three nominations at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards: Best New Artist in a Video, Best Special Effects in a Video, and Best Editing.
- MuchMusic later placed "The Adventure" at number one on its "Top Ten Out of This World Videos" countdown in December 2006.
- A behind-the-scenes "Making the Video" feature was also produced, documenting the creation of the clip during the band's first major promotional period.
