Synopsis

Peaches and her glam-rock band perform "Boys Wanna Be Her" with swagger, leather, face paint and deliberately exaggerated rock-star attitude. As the performance intensifies, the musicians turn their instruments against themselves, striking and mutilating their bodies until the stage becomes a bloody spectacle. The video starts as a confrontational glam-rock parody before veering into horror imagery, transforming rock bravado into something grotesque, funny and defiantly physical.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was made for the second single from Peaches' 2006 album "Impeach My Bush."

• Peaches described the concept as beginning like a glam-rock video and gradually turning into "Carrie."

• The video was shot in the desert with an all-female-identified cast and crew of roughly 40 people. Participants included sex workers, sex performers, musicians and visual artists.

• Hole and Motley Crue drummer Sam Maloney and Le Tigre's JD Samson appear alongside Peaches.

• The violent imagery was practical and intentionally excessive. Peaches noted that the arm-stabbing shot using a broken drumstick was the moment that had to be censored for MTV-style broadcast.

• The video received a 2007 MVPA Awards nomination for Best Makeup.

• The song later appeared in episodes of "Ugly Betty" and "The L Word," helping extend the video's aggressive queer-glam aesthetic beyond the original release.
