Synopsis

A violent clash unfolds between two rival gangs at an abandoned warehouse: one group wears clown costumes, while the other appears as masked street toughs. Their leaders recognize each other from childhood, and brief flashbacks reveal a friendship that has long since curdled into hatred. As the fight escalates, both men attempt to destroy the other. The confrontation ends when a leaking car, a dropped lighter, and a sudden explosion turn the feud into a fatal final act.

• The video was filmed in late April 2007 and premiered in the UK on Channel 4 on June 5, 2007.

• Stephen Graham plays the leading clown. He had already appeared in Arctic Monkeys' "When the Sun Goes Down" video and in the short film accompanying the "Scummy Man" release.

• The video's clown gang concept was echoed when Arctic Monkeys performed "Fluorescent Adolescent" on British television in full clown costumes.

• The video received a nomination at the 2008 UK Music Video Awards in the Best Rock Video category.
