Synopsis

The Black Eyed Peas turn a Los Angeles parking garage into a high-energy battleground. Arriving in a customized Honda Civic Hybrid, the group faces off against a mysterious gang through fast cuts, aggressive choreography, car stunts, and martial-arts-inspired action. Fergie, will.i.am, apl.de.ap, and Taboo perform amid flashing lights, tire smoke, and confrontational dance sequences, giving the clip the feel of a compact action movie. The video builds toward an explosive showdown that matches the track's relentless, sample-driven momentum.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was filmed in Los Angeles in November 2005 and was released in the United States in February 2006.
  • The customized Honda Civic Hybrid featured metallic paint and Black Eyed Peas graphics. It was later offered as a sweepstakes prize during the 2006 Honda Civic Tour.
  • Some of the car action was created with CGI because performing the maneuvers for real would have been too dangerous and expensive for a music video.
  • CGI was also used for the soccer-ball sequence in the middle of the clip.
  • Several of the fight scenes used cord-pulling stunts to give the performers' movements extra force and height.
  • will.i.am later connected the video's car imagery with Los Angeles' Filipino community and its enthusiasm for Honda Civics and car culture.
  • The song's instantly recognizable guitar hook comes from Dick Dale's surf-rock recording "Misirlou," which also helped give the video its fast, cinematic feel.
