Synopsis
Pillar's "Bring Me Down" follows the band members as a series of unfortunate breakdowns derails their journey. Rob Beckley starts out driving an old tractor, but the vehicle fails. He joins Noah Henson in a car, which also stops working, before the pair are picked up by Kalel and Lester Estelle in a monster truck. After that vehicle breaks down too, the band continues on foot and eventually reaches the stage, where they perform the song together.
Factoids & Trivia
- The video's recurring breakdown gag gives a literal visual twist to the song's title and its theme of refusing to be defeated by setbacks.
- The video features deliberately rough, aging vehicles rather than polished performance-video props, including a tractor, an old car, and a monster truck.
- "Bring Me Down" originally appeared on Pillar's 2004 album "Where Do We Go from Here."
- The song also appeared in the off-road racing game "MX vs. ATV Unleashed" and the baseball game "MLB 2006," helping it reach audiences outside Christian rock radio.
- Pillar's official media archive continues to list "Bring Me Down" among the band's music videos.
Lyrics
|
You can't bring me down, you can't bring me down Back in the day when nothing really mattered to me I only saw with my eyes what they wanted to see And everything around me seemed to never change Looking for an easy way out, someone to blame Why does it work this way, still today? You wanna take somebody down along the way? But I won't let that one be me, 'cause I don't want the drama it brings See, today isn't "back in the day" anymore I know a little more than I did before So, don't forget before you try bringing me down What goes around always comes back around ... |
