Synopsis

Gwen Stefani plays a disguised assassin who tracks her former boyfriend, portrayed by No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal, into an office building. After infiltrating the men's bathroom, she launches a violent attack on him and several other men. Kanal eventually recovers, seizes Stefani, and leaps through a window with her. Their fall is intercut with No Doubt performing onstage, creating a sharply stylized mix of revenge thriller, dark comedy, and concert footage.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was filmed in Los Angeles from January 24 through January 26, 2000.

• Its action sequences were partly inspired by the controversial Japanese anime film "Kite," particularly the men's bathroom confrontation and the plunge from a high-rise window.

• Tony Kanal's appearance as Stefani's ex-boyfriend added an autobiographical edge. Stefani and Kanal had previously been in a long-term relationship, although the song itself was written about Stefani's relationship with Bush singer Gavin Rossdale.

• Guitarist Tom Dumont originally filmed scenes as a police officer. Those scenes were removed from the finished clip, but Dumont's part was shown in MTV's "Making the Video" episode about the production.

• The video was later included on No Doubt's compilation DVD "The Videos 1992-2003."
