Synopsis

A whimsical stop-motion journey turns the song's lyrics into a changing landscape of handmade images. Figures make their way down from a cloud, seek help from a friend, follow a map, and continue through a world where sidewalks crack, words take physical form, and ordinary objects become part of the adventure. Rocks, paper, painted surfaces, and other materials animate the song's ideas in rhythmic bursts. The journey ends at a tree beside a spring, where the natural world reveals the song's central image: a heart made of sound.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was created as an ambitious stop-motion production, with 164 separate setups filmed across 14 consecutive shooting days.

• The shoot was organized around nine-hour days, despite the painstaking frame-by-frame process. Post-production took approximately one additional week.

• Much of the production took place in a house undergoing renovation. Because the walls were scheduled to be demolished, the crew had unusual freedom to paint, alter, and damage the location.

• The video uses environmental typography, turning lyrics into physical objects and surfaces rather than presenting them only as on-screen text. Rocks, paper, painted materials, and other props are incorporated into the animation.

• The production used a Canon EOS-1Ds Mark II camera. The post-production work was completed by the Australian company Frame Set and Match.

• The clip became an important early calling card for its filmmaker. In a later interview, the filmmaker said the project helped put him on the map, while crediting the generous use of the renovation site and the extended shooting schedule for allowing the concept to develop.

• The song appeared on The Softlightes' album "Say No to Being Cool Say Yes to Being Happy," released in 2006.
