Synopsis
Matt & Kim turn a photo studio into a parade of bizarre family portraits. Wearing an assortment of costumes and striking deliberately uncomfortable poses, the Brooklyn duo move through scenes inspired by awkward vintage snapshots. They appear as skiers, goths, pregnant figures and other unlikely characters, while the increasingly surreal setups grow more colorful and cosmic. The video's fast, playful energy matches the song's chant-like hook, ending with the pair fully embracing the absurdity of the shoot rather than attempting to look polished or conventional.
Factoids & Trivia
- The official video premiered on Funny or Die in October 2012, shortly after the release of the album *Lightning*.
- The video's concept draws on the era of awkward family portraits and the internet's fascination with strange, uncomfortable snapshot photography.
- Matt & Kim appear in a wide range of deliberately odd personas, including skiers, goths and pregnant nudists.
- The video is sometimes confused with an earlier promotional clip for the song. That separate video features basketball trick specialist Pat the Roc performing an extended display of ball-handling skills.
- Matt & Kim met Pat the Roc through Band of Ballers, a basketball event associated with Converse and MTV. They chose him for the promotional clip because his performance had the energy they wanted for "Let's Go."
- "Let's Go" was released as the lead single from *Lightning*, the duo's fourth studio album. The album was written, recorded and self-produced by Matt Johnson and Kim Schifino in their Brooklyn apartment.
- The song reached No. 20 on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart.
