Synopsis

Set inside an anxious subconscious, "Villages of Ether" uses surreal imagery to explore the experience of recognizing an inner difficulty. A human figure confronts unsettling, dreamlike manifestations of the self, with the video gradually moving from unease and psychological tension toward release. Its abstract visual language avoids a literal storyline, instead treating the song as an internal journey in which fear, self-awareness, and self-doubt collide before giving way to a sense of resolution.

• The video was made for "Villages of Ether," the fifth track on *Idiot Songs*, released in 2013 by Pearse McGloughlin and Justin Grounds.

• *Idiot Songs* is a concept album inspired by Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel *The Idiot*. The project was described by its creators as "electronic chamber music."

• The video's stated concept places the action in the subconscious and focuses on anxiety, self-recognition, and the eventual elimination of self-doubt.
