Synopsis

Set in a brightly colored suburban world, "Changes" follows a group of children whose playful rivalry escalates into an elaborate make-believe conflict. A girl appears to be taken captive, prompting the other children to organize a rescue mission. Armed with improvised gear and seemingly endless rolls of toilet paper, they turn ordinary streets and homes into a chaotic battlefield. The video contrasts childhood innocence with the visual language of gang warfare, while a mother watches the commotion from the safety of a spotless house.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was produced in 2013 for Four Music and was filmed in South Africa.
  • Its child-centered concept mirrors the song's most distinctive musical element: the refrain samples Pnau's "Baby," a track built around a children's choir.
  • The production used a large ensemble of young performers, alongside an adult character credited as "The Mother."
  • The visual effects team was specifically credited with VFX design, helping create the exaggerated battlefield imagery and the striking abundance of toilet paper.
  • The same production credits list Felix Urbauer as cinematographer, editor, and colorist, giving the video a notably unified visual and post-production style.
  • The video frames childish games with the iconography of action and crime films, but replaces conventional weapons with playful household objects. The contrast is central to its surreal, comic tone.
  • "Changes" helped turn Faul & Wad Ad's track into an international dance hit. The song reached No. 1 in Germany and Belgium and was also used in advertising and video games, including Forza Horizon 2.
