Synopsis

Set in and around a laundromat, the video turns everyday washing into a playful portrait of community. The Uncluded perform among customers, machines, clothes, and other unusual characters, including a three-legged dog and the internet-famous cat Lil Bub. The bright, homespun presentation contrasts with the song's reflections on loneliness, family, and the social connection found in public laundry spaces. Its loose parade of faces and odd details gives the track a warm, eccentric visual counterpart.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video premiered on March 26, 2013, ahead of The Uncluded's debut album, Hokey Fright, which arrived on May 7, 2013.

• "Delicate Cycle" was promoted as the third single from Hokey Fright.

• Lil Bub's appearance was one of the video's main talking points. At the time, the cat was already an internationally recognized internet celebrity.

• A three-legged dog also appears, adding to the video's deliberately unconventional cast.

• The song is the only track on Hokey Fright to feature an outside musician. James McNew of Yo La Tengo played the drums.

• The song and video received a physical Record Store Day release in 2013. The limited 7-inch paired "Delicate Cycle" with "Earthquake" and was pressed on transparent green vinyl in an edition of 1,000 hand-numbered copies.

• One of the filmmakers' acquaintances, gunsmith Mr. Takahashi, was considered for an appearance but was ultimately cut from the finished video.
