Synopsis

Aubrey Plaza plays a troubled young woman caught in a fractured, nocturnal nightmare. Bloodied and emotionally volatile, she moves through a gathering of mourners dressed in black, where Father John Misty appears as an enigmatic participant. The scenes unfold out of sequence, shifting between uneasy intimacy, sudden violence, and ritualistic funeral imagery. Rather than illustrating the song literally, the video builds a dark, surreal portrait of desire, grief, and destructive behavior, ending with the feeling that its central relationship has already crossed beyond repair.

• The video arrived in early 2012, several months before the May 1 release of Father John Misty's debut album, *Fear Fun*, on Sub Pop.

• Aubrey Plaza was already widely known for playing April Ludgate on *Parks and Recreation*. Her detached, unpredictable screen persona made her a natural fit for the video's unsettling combination of deadpan humor and violent melodrama.

• Josh Tillman has said that he sent Plaza the song and later asked her to appear in the video.
