Synopsis
Bayside's "Time Has Come" combines the band's performance with a surreal parade of staged tableaux and visual gags. Set against the song's driving punk-rock momentum, the video moves through strange encounters involving an armoire, a white rabbit, a rat-snorting character, a skateboarder, a gasping woman, and a pink elephant. Rather than following a conventional storyline, it builds an intentionally disjointed dreamscape from quick, absurd images, matching the song's restless energy and darkly playful tone.
Factoids & Trivia
- The video was released in February 2014 to promote Bayside's sixth studio album, "Cult," issued through Hopeless Records. It arrived alongside the album's release.
- A lyric video appeared on January 27, 2014, several weeks before the main music video.
- The visual concept was assembled from photographs captured in Canoga Park, California. The production team used friends and collaborators to perform the video's various stunts and oddball character pieces.
- The credited characters include an "Armoire Girl," a "White Rabbit / Rat Snorter," a skateboarder, a gasping girl, and a pink elephant.
- The band's performance footage was produced separately by Mike Lambert for Table Three Media and incorporated into the photo-based material.
- "Time Has Come" began during a songwriting session for Avril Lavigne. Bayside vocalist Anthony Raneri initially considered the song too pop-oriented for the band, and it remained unused for several years before Bayside reshaped it into a punk song for "Cult."
- The song was also issued on "Cult White Edition," a special edition that added four rare or previously unreleased tracks to the original album.
