Synopsis

An abstract animated journey unfolds in sync with Midnight Davis' electronic track. Swirling corridors, shifting forms and layered geometric "boards" carry the viewer through a constantly transforming visual space. Rather than presenting a literal narrative, the video emphasizes movement, rhythm and seamless transitions, creating a hypnotic sensation of being pulled forward through an endless series of connected environments. Its fluid, nonrepresentational imagery gives "Letting It Flow" an immersive, dreamlike character that mirrors the track's title.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was presented as a companion to "Letting It Flow," the opening track on Midnight Davis' debut EP, "Aftershocks."

• "Aftershocks" was released by the London label Five Easy Pieces on January 23, 2012. The track runs for 3:04.

• The animation's constantly moving corridors and graphic shapes recall the abstract chase sequences associated with 1960s "Pink Panther" cartoons.

• The video's motion language was influenced by the computer animation experiments of John Whitney, a major early figure in motion graphics. The visual structure was designed as a journey through separate graphic panels, with transitions linking one panel to the next.

• The physical EP was issued on cassette. Its photography was credited to Meg Sharp, with design by Ross Gunter.
