Synopsis

RLMDL's "Bilingual" unfolds as a dreamlike portrait of a young woman moving through a series of highly stylized, surreal settings. Elaborate headdresses, theatrical styling, intimate close-ups and shifting visual textures give the clip an otherworldly quality, while the sparse narrative leaves the character feeling more like a figure from a recurring dream than a conventional protagonist. The imagery follows the song's progression from hypnotic reverie toward something darker and more disorienting, creating a visual counterpart to its hazy electronic atmosphere.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was released in late 2013 to accompany "Bilingual," the title track of RLMDL's Bilingual EP. The song also appears on the album Before Then Was Now.

• The production was made in cooperation with MuchFACT's PromotFACT Award Program, a Canadian funding initiative supporting music-video production.

• Toronto-based production company Heratics handled the production. Kelly Jeffrey served as director of photography, while Amanda Lee Shirreffs was responsible for the styling.

• Haley Kriksic appears as the video's lead actress.

• The striking headdresses used in the video were provided by designer Marie Copps.

• RLMDL is pronounced "role model" and was the project of Toronto musician and producer Jordan Allen. The music for "Bilingual" was written and produced by Allen.
