Bloc Party - Truth

Wiki

Synopsis

Bloc Party perform in an open field as bursts of colored smoke erupt around them. The band members appear caught between stillness and motion, with slow-motion images turning gestures, jumps, and drifting smoke into abstract visual patterns. The imagery follows the song's emotional directness rather than constructing a conventional narrative, using rhythmic editing, vivid color, and suspended movement to create an energetic yet dreamlike portrait of the group.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was filmed in November 2012 and released online on January 15, 2013, ahead of "Truth"'s single release.
  • The footage was shot at 120 frames per second, allowing the band's movements and the smoke clouds to unfold in pronounced slow motion.
  • Bloc Party described the shoot as taking place on a freezing day in the middle of November outside London.
  • The production was handled by Nexus, with Martin Testar credited as director of photography. Post-production included color grading and visual finishing by Sonic Films.
  • "Truth" was the final official music video to feature Bloc Party's original lineup of Kele Okereke, Russell Lissack, Gordon Moakes, and Matt Tong.
  • A separate live video was later assembled from fan footage recorded at the band's February 22, 2013, show at London's Earl's Court. More than 200 fans submitted material through the Vyclone social-video app.
