Synopsis
Kalipo's "Fractal" turns Frankfurt's skyline and surrounding city imagery into a fluid, constantly transforming visual field. Familiar buildings, roads, lights and horizon lines are multiplied, mirrored and distorted into kaleidoscopic patterns that seem to fold in on themselves. Instead of presenting a conventional narrative, the video follows the track's hypnotic electronic pulse, moving between recognizable urban views and abstract geometric formations. The result is a compact audiovisual experiment in which the city appears to behave like a living mathematical pattern.
Factoids & Trivia
- The video was created as an attempt to express the idea of a fractal in both sound and image, with the visual concept explicitly inspired by mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot.
- The footage was shot entirely with a GoPro, an approach that helped give the city views their wide-angle, immersive quality.
- Frankfurt is central to the video's visual identity. The city's skyline and urban environment are listed among the video's defining subjects, rather than serving merely as an anonymous backdrop.
- Audiolith released the track in connection with *Stiff Little Spinners Vol. 3*, a compilation presenting electronic material from artists associated with the label and its wider scene.
- The official video appeared online in May 2013, with the Audiolith upload published on May 6, 2013.
