Synopsis

Set between an industrial workshop and a frozen Swedish lake, the video turns "Dust Clears" into a surreal winter spectacle. A factory worker sings beside a blowtorch before the scene shifts to figures in formal, old-fashioned clothing skating across the ice. Noonie Bao appears as the song's vocal presence, while the band perform among the wintry landscapes. The centerpiece is an eccentric skater who glides across the lake on an ice skateboard, blending deadpan comedy, classical imagery, and Clean Bandit's playful visual style.

Factoids & Trivia

• Clean Bandit created and filmed the video themselves, with help from Anna Patarakina and Daria Novitskaya, two friends from film school who had also worked with the band on "Mozart's House."

• The outdoor footage was shot on Lake Vattern in Sweden. The lake was frozen so solidly that, according to the band, a truck could have been driven across the ice.

• The ice-skating minister is a visual reference to Henry Raeburn's painting "The Skating Minister." Nick Martin recreates the painting's distinctive pose while wearing similarly formal clothing.

• Nick Martin was a friend of the band whose father had been a champion figure skater in Scotland. The band developed the skating-minister idea with Martin, who also later appeared in Clean Bandit's "Rather Be" video.

• The video's unusual mix of a factory, a blowtorch, violins, clergy-like costumes, and skating was part of Clean Bandit's broader approach of building visual concepts around the music rather than treating the video as a separate promotional add-on.

• "Dust Clears" was released in 2013 as the third single from Clean Bandit's debut album, "New Eyes." Noonie Bao contributes the chorus, while much of the song's lead vocal is performed by band member Jack Patterson.
