Röyksopp - This Must Be It

Music Video

Wiki

Synopsis

Runar enters an idyllic natural settlement inhabited by naked, carefree people. At first, the community appears playful and harmonious, but its rituals and reactions gradually become more unsettling. Strange gestures, primal behavior, and surreal encounters make the supposedly perfect society feel increasingly unstable. Rather than offering a conventional storyline, the video unfolds like a fragment of modern mythology: an outsider wanders into a utopian world whose customs remain mysterious and possibly threatening. The result is dreamlike, eccentric, and deliberately unresolved.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The video was presented as a "semi-biblical story" set in an all-nude, utopian hippy world.
  • Runar is the central character in the clip's original description, which frames the film as a series of strange events happening around him.
  • The video's natural setting and primal imagery represent a sharp contrast with the polished, futuristic feel often associated with electronic music videos.
  • The clip accompanied "This Must Be It," the third single from Royksopp's 2009 album *Junior*.
  • Karin Dreijer Andersson provides the vocals. At the time, she was known for her work with The Knife and her solo project Fever Ray.
  • The video appeared online on September 28, 2009, several weeks before the single's November 2 release.
  • The song was Royksopp's second collaboration with Dreijer, following "What Else Is There?" from 2005.
