Synopsis

"Chaos" turns a rap-rock collaboration into an unruly performance spectacle. Such A Surge, Ferris MC, the Spezializtz and DJ Stylewarz appear in a series of exaggerated, theatrical setups, shifting between formal band presentation, face paint, character transformations and bursts of destruction. The musicians perform directly to camera while the atmosphere grows increasingly absurd and aggressive. A standout visual gag casts DJ Stylewarz as Hulk, matching the track's collision of heavy riffs, rap verses, scratching and deliberately over-the-top mayhem.

• The video was filmed in Berlin in November 1999 using a Super 35mm camera.

• The collaboration brought together Such A Surge, Ferris MC, the Spezializtz and DJ Stylewarz. It was one of the clearest demonstrations of the band's crossover between alternative rock, metal and German hip-hop.

• DJ Stylewarz appears in a Hulk-inspired role, while members of the Spezializtz and Such A Surge undergo theatrical makeup and character changes.

• The formal suits worn by the band came from H&M, although the classical instruments used in the performance scenes were genuine.

• Removing the body paint took almost three hours in the shower.

• The destructive tone had a real consequence: guitarist Dennis Graef reportedly broke several teeth while smashing a guitar during the shoot.

• "Chaos" was released as a single in January 2000 and appeared on Such A Surge's album "Der Surge Effekt," which was released on February 7, 2000.
