Synopsis

Sloan's "The Good In Everyone" opens with an extended, black-and-white parody of the 1969 road movie "Easy Rider." The band members take on exaggerated versions of the film's central characters before the song begins, turning the setup into a deliberately oversized piece of rock mythology. Once the music starts, Sloan performs in a bright, stylized setting, with the vintage imagery and playful acting giving the short, energetic power-pop track a distinctly cinematic presentation.

Factoids & Trivia

  • The opening sequence was filmed at Toronto Pearson International Airport, using the Convair Drive area near the southwest end of the airport's runway.
  • The video recreates the character dynamic from "Easy Rider." Andrew Scott plays Billy, Chris Murphy plays Wyatt, Jay Ferguson plays Connection, and Patrick Pentland plays the Bodyguard.
  • The "Easy Rider" parody runs longer than the song itself, making the introduction unusually substantial for a two-minute-plus music video.
  • "The Good In Everyone" was the lead single from Sloan's 1996 album "One Chord to Another."
  • The video received airplay on MTV's "120 Minutes," helping introduce Sloan to viewers outside Canada.
  • The song's album version begins with concert-announcer Neil "Brother Bill" Morrison welcoming Sloan to the stage. That live-show introduction and the accompanying crowd noise are absent from the radio edit.
