Synopsis

Pitchshifter perform inside a derelict warehouse as riot police close in around them. The band's music becomes a physical weapon, blasting the officers backward and shattering their helmets. The confrontation escalates through bursts of water, smoke, and flashing signal flares, giving the performance a chaotic, confrontational energy. Rather than presenting a conventional narrative, the video turns the song's aggressive electronic-metal attack into a surreal clash between the band and institutional authority.

Factoids & Trivia

• The video was filmed in 1997 at Lovell's Wharf, a disused warehouse site in southeast London.

• The location was suitable for the production because the band had permission to spray water through the building and generally damage the set during filming.

• The video's concept was selected from treatment proposals submitted to the band. According to vocalist J.S. Clayden, the chosen treatment matched Pitchshifter's confrontational style better than the more outlandish alternatives they received.

• "Genius" won Best Video at the 1998 Kerrang! Awards.
